

Ruby (Richter) Ivy, 94, of Georgetown died on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 of natural causes. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, 6-8 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Born Sept. 3, 1920 in Walburg, TX, to Ernest and Ida (Vogler) Richter, she was the second of four children. Ruby was an avid gardener and crafter. She was known to be able to grow anything that she put in the ground and was always working on countless crochet, macramé, ceramic or sewing projects. She grew up in the Walburg/Georgetown area, met Horace O. Ivy and married Nov. 4, 1939. They lived most of their lives together in Texas, with the last 55 years in Austin. They had five children: Norma, Mary, Robert, Glenda and Richard. She was preceded in death by husband, Horace; son, Robert; sister, Esther; and twin siblings, Ernest and Ida. Survivors include daughters Norma Ivy of Georgetown, Mary Barbour and husband Richard of Georgetown, Glenda Brown and husband Steve of Longview and son Richard W. Ivy of Pflugerville; also by four grandchildren and their spouses: Sheryl Floyd of Pflugerville, Gene Koenig of Buckner, AR., Laura Wilson of Hughes Springs, TX and Jeff Barbour of Pflugerville along with nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, plus numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX or charity of choice.
