

Sherry was predeceased by her father, Cecil Floyd George, Sr., her mother Tommie Helen (Reynolds) George and her sister, Nora Mae.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Cecil Floyd George, Jr. and his wife, Betty Lynn (Sorrells) George; her niece, Erin Wright and her husband, Dr. Christopher Wright and their sons, Cade, Connor, and Eliot; her nephew, Brian George and his wife, Betsy and their daughter, Kinsley and their son, Weston.
Sherry accepted Christ and was baptized at 11 years of age. She graduated from Childress High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1967. She attended West Texas State University graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and education. She later attended the University of Texas at Austin graduating in 1979 with a master’s degree in education and counseling.
Sherry taught one year at Clarendon High School.
She taught higher level math at Georgetown High School from 1972 until 1997. She served as department chairperson for many years. In 1997 Sherry became a high school counselor serving at both the high school and ninth grade campus. She retired from Georgetown Independent School District in 2010. During her time there she received many awards including teacher of the year in 2005. Sherry then taught mathematics at Grace Academy for several years. After she retired completely from the classroom, she did private tutoring in her home until 2023.
Over her career she touched countless lives and had a positive impact on all with whom she knew. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Dementia Society of America.
Funeral Service will be held at Gabriel’ s Funeral Chapel in Georgetown on March 14, 2026 with visitation at 1 pm and the service at 2 pm. Burial will take place in Childress, Texas on March 18, 2026.
