Ted Alan Wrenn Sr.

Ted graduated from Lancaster High School in 1968, where he was an all-star drummer in the band, as well as part of the Jack Kline Orchestra. Ted and friends formed a rock and roll band, The Kolumn, that saw great success in the North Texas region. Unfortunately, it was short lived because of the Vietnam War. Ted was drafted into the Army, but he quickly joined the Navy instead and served four years as a Naval Intelligence Officer, stationed in Japan and Hawaii. After his discharge in 1973, he pursued his love of music and radio and found employment at KTON, a country music station in Belton, TX. That is where he met the love of his life, Patti, and it was the beginning of a very successful broadcasting career spanning over 40 years. Television and radio took him all over the state of Texas, as well as eight years in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a brief stint in Breckenridge, Colorado. He had THAT voice and it served him well in front of the camera and behind the microphone.

Beyond his work, Ted loved to play golf. He was also an avid hunter and he and Patti enjoyed traveling. In his later years, he became quite the gardener. He also had lots of fun working puzzles with Patti and singing karaoke with family.

Ted is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patti Latham Wrenn; three children: Shea Wrenn Hinds (Michael), Ted Wrenn, Jr (Liz), and Lacey Wrenn; four grandchildren: Michael Hinds III (Baily), Hunter Hinds (Taylor), Bailey Hinds, and Kenadie Wrenn; great grandchild, Michael Hinds IV; two brothers: Michael Wrenn (Susan) and Tim Wrenn (Linda); and his loyal four legged companion, Penelope.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents.

A Committal Service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:00 am.
