

Violet Marie Carpenter Floyd was born at home in Spicewood, Texas on March 1, 1931. She passed peacefully from this life at home on October 14, 2017.Violet met the love of her life, Jessie Wilburn Floyd, while attending elementary school in the bygone community of Concord, near Liberty Hill. They were married on September 4, 1948 until Wilburn’s death on November 4, 1981. The couple raised two children together and enjoyed spending any free time they had as a family. In her later years, Violet’s greatest joy were her grandsons, Reece and Mitchell.Violet was the eldest of 11 children born to John Orvis Sr. and Gertrude Carpenter.Survivors include her daughter, Tina Garner, son, Bruce Floyd, and her grandsons Reece and Mitchell Floyd, brothers, John W. Carpenter, Arthur (Bud) Carpenter, Garry Carpenter, and Charles Carpenter, sisters Anna Rose (Toots) Brown and Gladys Stephenson.Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Wilburn Floyd, brothers, Jerry Carpenter Sr. ,and John Orvis (June) Carpenter Jr. and sisters, Lorraine (Sam) Perry and Elaine Hamilton.Pallbearers are her son Bruce and grandsons, Reece and Mitchell, and nephews, John Heine, Blaine Brown, and Jerry Carpenter, Jr.Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N Interstate 35, Georgetown, TX.Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Liberty Hill Cemetery, 16101 Hwy 29, Liberty Hill, TX with Steve Ledbetter officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations made to charities who support heart and lung diseases are appreciated.
