Alicia Ortega, lovingly known as “Licha,” was born in Nuevo León, Monterrey, Mexico, Alicia was born to Manuel Ochoa Garza and Modesta Gonzalez Ochoa.
She was the third of eight siblings.
In 1969, Alicia married Miguel Ortega. Together, they raised five beautiful children. Though they later separated, they remained lifelong friends, united through love and family.
From an early age, Alicia's life was rooted in faith and family. She began her education at Sacred Heart of Jesus and carried the values she learned there throughout her life. Alicia was a woman full of life—vibrant, caring, and always ready to help others. Her unwavering love for the Lord guided her steps, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Alicia was more than a devoted mother and grandmother—she was an incredible daughter, sister, aunt, and a true sister in Christ. Her warmth touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She shared her many gifts with the world through her work and service, including opening and running a Christian daycare from her home in Pico Rivera. Her home was a place of learning, laughter, and love.
One of her greatest joys was cheering from the sidelines at her sons’ baseball and football games, a proud and supportive mother who never missed a chance to celebrate their accomplishments.
Alicia also deeply enjoyed attending church with both of her daughters. These were cherished moments of worship and unity that brought her peace and joy.
She was an active member of Agape Christian Center, where she worshiped faithfully and deeply loved her church family and pastors. Her faith was evident in all she did, and her spirit brought comfort and strength to those around her.
On June 9th, Alicia was called home to be with the Lord. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her light and love will continue to shine in our hearts.
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Your light will forever shine.
