October 8, 1934 – July 2, 2025
Carol Lea (Timberlake) Berry, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Carol was born October 8, 1934, in Illinois, the daughter of Samuel “Woodie” and Leota Dare (Purlee) Timberlake. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1952, and attended Western Illinois University, in Macomb, Illinois.
Carol married Richard Denis Berry on January 19, 1957, in Galesburg, Illinois. Denis passed away on January 21, 2015.
Carol and family moved from Peoria, Illinois, to Glendora, California, in 1969, when Denis went to work for Rain Bird Corporation.
Carol had many friends and interests, including volunteering in the Foothill Presbyterian Hospital nursery in Glendora. Carol was happiest when raising her four children and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to share memories, play cards, put a stick of chewing gum in birthday cards, eat donuts at the “big tree,” shop for See’s candy, and swap emails. Her grandchildren will always remember her infectious sense of humor and her love of all animals.
Along with her parents and her infant sister, Ruth Timberlake, Carol was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Mary Alice (Robert) McKeague. She is survived by four children, Denise (Norman) Lopez of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Sean (Mary Anne) Berry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patrick (Hannah) Berry of Spring Park, Minnesota, and Amy (Gregg) Kloke of Chicago, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, Trisha (Mark) Ortiz, Lauren (Kyle) Ong, Christine (Michael) Creaven, and Norman (Pam) Lopez, Patrick (Maria) Berry, Timothy (Holly) Berry, Joseph (Rina) Berry, and Finbar (Madeline) Berry, Sydney (Vince Courtright) Berry, Samuel and Jessie Berry, David (Meghan) Kloke, Ryan (Katie) Kloke, and Benjamin (Anna Hendricks) Kloke; nine great-grandchildren, Paisley, Jonah and Bailey Ortiz, Araceli Lopez, Audrey Berry, Benjamin and Isabelle Berry, Cali and Emma Creaven, and many nieces and nephews.
The family plans to have a reunion and celebration of life in Carol’s honor this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to be made to the American Heart Association.
