Daniel "Danny" Prado, at the age of 66, returned to his heavenly home on June 24, 2019 after a fearless battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Danny was born on November 1, 1952 to the late Gabriel and Blanca Prado. Gabriel was a Navy veteran, worked for LA county, and an arborist at Universal Studios while Blanca wasrespectively head of the household, in Los Angeles, California. He was the fourth child of nine siblings. He learned of God’s love for him from his grandmother “Mama Lupe” at a young age, that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He has years of education at community college for classes he took to further his knowledge and career in public works and civil service.
Danny was blessed with a loving family. He married Mary Prado on January 31, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He helped raise his two children with patience, love, and humility. He taught them to pursue their dreams through education, and often took them on day trips to explore the diverse culture of Los Angeles and all that it had to offer, venture on beach and land camping trips while always making time to visit family, staying close to those he dearly loved. He had special bonds with his loved ones, holding his sisters Olga and Susie and his Uncle Alberto close to him. He gave enduring nick names to his immediate family that made them feel loved and special. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to know God’s word, leading his children in daily bible studies up until the last week of his passing.
Danny was an educator at heart with sharing the Word of God and his trade secrets. He was a big-hearted, generousprovider, protector of others, hard-worker, and dedicated individual who loved God and who was passionate about spreading God’s word. Living by Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” He was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Chapel at various locations with his home church at Calvary Chapel Monrovia and was honored to volunteer his time to serve. He made trips to an orphanage in Mexico to give to children in need and created holiday events with food and gifts for senior homes. He was happy to share his knowledge of how to fix or execute anything, and always had time to help those in need, no matter how big or small the project. There was so many ways Danny wore his heart on his sleeve and too many to say as the list goes on and on. Although he worked tirelessly for others, he knew in Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” God blessed him with the talent of creating as he enjoyed making anything from a handcrafted lamp to painting on canvas in his early days. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate and are comforted by the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Danny is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter Cabrina, his son-in-law Jordan, his son Christopher; and his grandson Kai. Through marriage with Mary, his daughter Bernie, his son-in-law Pedro, his son Erik; his grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan, Pedro, Jade, Julissa, and Erika; his grandchild-in-law Clarissa; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Lily, Makala, and Matheau. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jaime and Mario; and his parents.
