She is survived by her Husband Jesus Garcia and five children Maria, Monica, Jesus Jr, Griselda, and Sonia. 13 grandchildren Isaac Garcia, Adrian Valdez Jr, Valerie Valdez, Fabian Valdez, Marisol Meza, Jullissa Meza, Benicio Jesus Garcia, Natalie Fuentes, Alejandra Fuentes, David Fuentes Jr., Grace Fuentes, Jaimie Aguirre, Daniel Leo Aguirre. She passed away in the city of Upland California at the age of 65 on January 22, 2026.
She was a beloved home maker who always put her family first. She always made sure her kids were well fed and always were prepared for the occasion. She was loved by so many people especially her grandchildren. She had many friends especially friends from her childhood back in Mexico. She always had great stories to tell about growing up at the rancho of San Jose de Llanetes, Fresnillo Zacatecas. Delfina was a great wife, mother, sister, friend. She always put others needs before her own, maybe that was one of her down falls but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She was a very strong willed, and even though she was not always well, she never let it show. She always made sure she had a lot of food in her home for when people would come over she had something to offer them. She always thought about her siblings and wondered how they were doing and if they had ate that day. I remember countless times my sisters and I would take her to take food to her brothers wherever they were living at the time. My mother was a great human being and I'm not just saying that because she was my mother. She was genuinely a good person with a good heart. She was small in size but had a big heart.
Delfina was a hard worker from a young age. When she arrived to the US at the age of 16, she began working as a baby sitter and cleaning person. She would ask for work anywhere she could, often by word of mouth that she would clean houses. I remember her telling me stories of how she would take the bus all over the city of Pasadena and surrounding cities back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. She was never afraid of hard work. Never gave up on her kids and her family. Even though her life and marriage was not perfect she never gave up on her husband and children. Delfina was a special person, she could make friends anywhere she went. She could meet people at a super market, clothing store and would chat for hours it seemed like.
Besides being all those things her best quality was probably her cooking. She could make some bomb rice, enchiladas, chiles reyenos, tamales, and mole, among other things. Not only was she a great cook homemaker, she also loved to dance and sing. She was so full of life. She was always ready for a party or even just to go out to dinner or just to go window shopping.
Delfina was a woman of faith who devoted her life to the Catholic Church, attending Sunday mass, volunteering in church choir and among other things making sure her children and family had a strong foundation to follow and be close with God.
Delfina was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend. She will be missed for years to come. I hope that one day we will reunite with her in heaven. I love you mom.
