August 26, 1954 – April 24, 2026
Donald Lawrence didn’t need many words — but every conversation he was part of felt like reuniting with a childhood friend, full of laughter, joy, and the kind of wisdom that stays with you long after you’ve said goodbye.
Born on August 26, 1954, and the youngest of five children, Donald grew up to become something rare: a man whose life was a living testament to everything he believed in. He was a man of God in the truest sense — not just in word, but in the way he moved through the world, consistently embodying the fruits of the Spirit in his relationships, his work, and his quiet, steady presence.
For 29 years, Donald served the City of Los Angeles as a member of the LAPD, bringing that same integrity and dedication to his community that he brought to everything he touched. But if you asked him, his greatest achievements had nothing to do with a badge. They were marrying the love of his life, Evelyn Christine Lawrence; becoming“Grandpa” to his beloved Teagan; and showing his daughters, by example every single day, what a real man looks like.
Donald’s passions were as rich and soulful as the music he loved — James Brown and Al Green, Maze and Johnny Guitar Watson, Prince, Led Zeppelin, and Chicago. He sought out the best ethnic food spots with the enthusiasm of a true connoisseur, embraced the discipline and peace of cycling, kept himself strong in the gym, and devoted careful, loving hours to bringing a 1956 Chevy back to its former glory. He was a licensed pilot, a classic car enthusiast, and a man who found beauty in craftsmanship — because he himself was one.
Above all, Donald’s greatest pursuit was his relationship with Jesus Christ — one he tended to faithfully, and one that shaped every corner of his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Morgan and Maureé; his granddaughter, Teagan; his brother, Robert; his sisters,Carol and Linda; his niece, Aajjha; and his nephew, Duple'
Donald Lawrence lived fully, loved deeply, and left everyone around him feeling better than he found them. He is not gone — he is simply home.
