

Eleanor, born Eleanor Ennis Taylor, known as Ellie was born February 20, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved only daughter of Sarah and James Taylor. Ellie spent her early years living with her parents in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Much of her childhood was spent with her loving aunts and cousins in Pittsburgh. In 1946, Ellie and her parents moved across the country to Fallbrook, California. They moved around Southern California for a few years and eventually landed in Monrovia, where she attended and graduated from Monrovia High School in 1952.
In 1952, Ellie helped her parents purchase their brand new home in Glendora. Ellie became involved in the Arcadia Presbyterian Church where she later joined the Lamplighters group, meeting many life long friends and the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Shetron, They began dating in September, 1955, were married on May, 19, 1956, and began a 55 year marriage that started a legacy that will live on for generations. In 1965, she and Bob and their 2 children moved to the Glendora house where she lived until she could no longer live alone. Eleanor dedicated her life to her 2 children, 2 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren. She worked as a dental assistant for many decades before retiring in 1988 to help with grandchildren and to travel with Bob. Eleanor was involved in many groups including Lamplighters, Sparks, PEO, United Methodist Women, Merry Methodists, Glendora Women’s Club, and working in the classroom at United Methodist Pre School.
Eleanor enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, traveling with Bob, and most of all spending time with her granddaughters. Eleanor was loving and passionate and will be greatly missed in all circles. She lived a long and very full life.
Eleanor is survived by: her son John Shetron and daughter in law Cyn, daughter Linda and son in law Gordon Bergslien, 2 granddaughters Kathryn (son in law Daniel Cayem), Kristina (son in law Jordan Vogel), and 5 great grandchildren, Grace, Robert, and Joseph Cayem, and James and John (Jack) Vogel, along with countless extended family and friends.
All services for Eleanor will be held at Oakdale Mortuary and Memorial Park, 1401 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA. A viewing will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, March 26. The burial will be held at 9 am Friday, March 27, followed by a Memorial Service in the Oakdale Chapel at 10 AM.
