Frances J. Fontes

Ontario, Ca. She was eighty-three years of age.

Frances was born on August 30, 1935 in Kirtland, Ohio to the late Clarence and Alma Brichford. She had

three siblings Ida, Melva, and John. Ida and John both preceded her in death. Frances was educated in the West Geauga School District in Ohio.

Frances married William “Shorty” Adkins on April 19, 1952. Five children were born of this union, William

“Bill”, Wendy, Sandra, Terry and Peggy. Frances became widowed in 1995 when Shorty passed away. She then remarried John Fontes on February 14, 1997. She added four adult step children to her family, John, Illona, Maurice, and Faith Ann. Frances became widowed again in 2009 when John passed away. Frances’ son Bill preceded her in death in 2015 and her daughter Sandra in 2016.

Frances lived in Ohio until the 1960’s when she moved her family to California. She did many things in her

adult life. She was a mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother, animal and flower lover, Sunday school teacher, PTA board member, race car driver, blanket crocheter, mobile home park manager, West Covina Fire Department cookie baker, Women’s Club of West Covina treasurer, and care-giver to many. She was a believer and faithful follower of Christ.

Frances leaves her sister Melva Wright (Garry); children Wendy Weddle (Roy), Terry Adkins (Prisca) and

Peggy Browns (Sam) ; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several extended family members and friends to cherish her loving memory.
