

Fredrick Edward was born to Prudencio Cruz and Marie Antoinette Sanchez in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was the third of eight children. His formative years were spent in Santa Fe. His family moved to L.A. during the war for his fathers work in the ship yards. Later they moved to Sunland Tujunga where he attended Verdugo H.S. and was active in football, baseball and track and field. He married Nella Jane Rutledge on June 17th, 1962. He had 3 children, Terry Sanchez, Karla Echevarrieta and Rhonda Bliss. He had 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He loved babies and cherished every moment with his family. Fred was employed by Futurecraft for 39 year and then moved to Avibank in Burbank where he retired at 71. He was always active, officiating roller derby, umpiring little league, bowling and cruising with his wife and friends. In his 80s he learned to play frisbee golf. He was at the gym 3 days a week and walked miles up until he turned 90. Most people knew how much he loved reading military history books but also painted and enjoyed woodcarving.
He leaves behind his wife of 63.5 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 brothers and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.
