Bookending her identical twin, Kathleen, Janet was born to Jack and Mary Lou Abbott on August 6th, 1949, in Pasadena, California. A toe-head summer baby, she was followed by little sister Linda, and she grew up among the scent of orange groves and the warmth of family pets. Her mother instilled in her a sense of humor, a love of art, and an appreciation for the elegance of modesty and the divinity of cleanliness.
She was never more beautiful than when her perfect hair, the color of sunlight, swirled around her delicate face as she drove too fast along her beloved coastline. It was fitting that she met her husband, David, as a high school sophomore in driver’s education. The couple shared 61 years, two children, and countless adventures.
Janet didn’t suffer fools and was never wanting for an opinion. Her independent spirit and impeccable taste made her a talented interior designer and a valued employee at Kaiser Permanente for 33 years. She claimed that her blood ran Dodger Blue, her heartbeat was the love of her family and her animals, and her soul belonged to the sea.
Janet is survived by her husband, David; son Matthew and his wife, Desiree; daughter Jacqueline and her husband, John; and grandchildren Jack, Mauricio, Miles, Timotea, and Edith. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen and Linda. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou, and father, Jack.
A memorial service will be held at Oakdale Mortuary, 1401 S. Grand Ave., Glendora, CA 91740, at 11 am on November 18th.
