Obituary for Jeanette Loraine Harris
Born: October 24, 1920 Died: November 4, 2018 Jeanette, “Jake” was born in Kearney Nebraska to Edward and Charlotte (Lottie Larimer) Winn. In 1936 Jeanette and her parents moved to Hollywood California. Jeanette hated going to Hollywood High School and at 16 she put herself on a train back to Kearney to live with her sister Mary Louise and her husband Dale. After graduating in 1938 from Kearney High School she moved to Covina California to be with her parents. In 1939 she met Victor H. Harris and in 1940 they eloped to Yuma Arizona. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Vic’s death in November 2000. In 1941 their son Richard was born. The Harris family enjoyed camping and spending time in the outdoors, (often including vodka and a cold beer). In 1967 Vic and Jeanette traveled to Alaska with her brother Ken and his wife Lee Winn by Jeep. This trip was a highlight in her life. Jeanette was a lover of animals and especially dogs. In 2011 Jeanette graciously relocated to Eagle Idaho on her 91st birthday to be close to Richard and Judy and their children and grandchildren. Jeanette is survived by her son Richard (Judy), grandson Victor (Terri), Ken (Doneene), Karen (Don) Prosser. Also survived by her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Dillon Harris (Ken) and Justin and Nicole Prosser. She is also survived by nephew Jack Holt and his family. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Mary Louise Holt, and brother Kenneth Winn. Jeanette and her infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The next time you are enjoying your favorite beverage give a toast to “Jake”.
