I will always remember my grandmother's smile, kindness, and generosity. She would cook my cousins, sister, and I delicious ph?, filled with love, almost every time we visited. She greeted her grandchildren with freshly squeezed orange juice in the mornings and would tuck us in for a naps after a day in the nearby park - where we played, fed the geese, observed the peacock and rooster, ate ice cream, and drank from the Lion's mouth (a fountain which still exists to this day). My grandma never yelled at us for jumping on her bed, even with all the dives and stunts we performed onto it. She made sure I drank milk before going to bed - which I happily and loudly gulped (this made her laugh) and always sent me home with whatever crackers and cookies I could carry. When I moved nearby her for college, her door was always open to my friends and I. When I moved to the East Coast for work, her door was always open to me whenever I visited home. Thank you grandma for your lifetime of smiles, hugs, kisses, kindness, and generosity.

My fondest memories with Mr & Mrs. Anh Pham were those times in VN when I were young , my dad brought me to their house after picking me from school . Or sometimes a group of families went together to a picnic...Their generosity & caring always gave me warm feeling especially  Mrs Pham -she had the most softness voice & beautiful smile ever ...The friendship between them & my parents are priceless , I'm sure I'll miss them very much every time I think back of those memories . May God bless their son , daughters & family during this difficult time.

Dear Lan, beautiful orchid, ever since we met many years ago you have been often in my fondest thoughts. You will always be to me the courageous woman I met early in your American years. I knew you first as a student working hard to gain knowledge of English. Also as a Mother helping her children adapt to and be safe and well-educated (to say nothing of well fed) in a new culture.
So many memories.
Not the finest professional chef could compare with your cooking. (I remember how my granddaughter Regan, at the time 12 now 42, loved your preparation of shark fin soup).
Remember too, how we sometimes laughed at your husband's humor. As the time when Anh asked me to go to Las Vegas with the two of you - because, he said with grinning appeal, if I went along you would let him see the "whole nudies and not just the half." How you and I laughed! Another sharing.
Lan, you enriched my life too many ways to mention here. I have lost your corporeal self but never the essence of an incomparable friend.

I remember so well my first meeting with Lan, Anh and their family.  Lan looked like a beautiful orchid to me and I knew that I wanted to get to know her better.
