

Larry loved his family more than anything else in the world…except photography, chasing fire engines, fried egg sandwiches, camping, repelling, helicopters, Johnny Cash, chocolate malts, and just about any computer software book he could find. His best friends, chocolate and salt, are going to miss him terribly.
Larry was born January 5, 1947, in East Liverpool, OH to Olen J. and Mary Margaret (Wilson) Gilson. He grew up in West Covina, CA and graduated from Edgewood High School before joining the Marine Corps. He retired after 31 years of service from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Aero Bureau as an avionics communications engineer.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart Marcella “Marcy” (Pulice) and together they raised four children. Larry is survived by his son and wife Rudy and Debbie Gilson, daughter and husband Sheri and Kenny Dill, daughter and husband Deborah and Tim Thomas, and daughter Jannie Gilson. He has five wonderful grandchildren, Stacey (Gilson) Rodriguez, Kevin Gilson, Korey Dill, Sadie Ann Dill, and Sunni Dill. Along with eight great-grandchildren, Amelie, Ryle, Lively, Jude, Mila, Jackson, Riley, and Charlie Ann. His brother and wife David and Vivien Gilson, niece Allie and nephew Cole.
Larry shared the latter part of his life with Rita Rector in San Clemente, CA. He shared many memories with Rita’s family, daughters Denise Ponce and Lisa Ruef, grandchildren Courtney, Matthew, Jared, Tyler, and Samantha, and great-grandchildren Reagan and Greysen.
