Lusy Tjew was a loving & caring grandmother to both my sister and I, along with our cousins; Duma & Cleve. My mom and my auntie Milca are both very strong woman, but my Oma was an even stronger woman for raising the 2 daughters up by herself. Despite being faced with some hardships with her health for these past several years, it is with great sadness, but gratefulness that she is now able to be at peace, receiving the rest that she deserves with our Father in heaven. Growing up, Oma Lusy was the only biological grandparent we ever really knew. Every visit she had to Canada, and every visit we had to LA; although short in time, were precious. 
She was a woman of faith; someone who was constantly praying and reading her Bible diligently. She was a woman of wisdom. She would spend hours trying to teach us Chinese as children, and proper mannerisms of etiquette at the dinner table. She was a woman of kindness. She was always asking us if we wanted any treats, any new clothing items. Anything we wanted, she would try to get for us. She was loved and she will be missed, but we know that her legacy continues to live through our mom, our aunt, and all of our respective families. Although she may be gone, we know that her spirit and memories will continue to live in all of our hearts here today.



Medan, Indonesia—It was either 1979 or 1980, I was staying with my sister, DRG Joan Khoman and my brother-in-law, DRG Agus Khoman. One Sabbath afternoon, we along with other youth from Martapura Church went to Milcah and Maachak’s house. There was a devastating fire in the vicinity where they lived. It was a miracle. Only a few houses were spared. Their house was among the few that were untouched in the midst of the burned down structures. God is so good to them. I must have met Milcah and Maachak’s mother and father. I vaguely remember. 
Fast forward, 40 years later, I met Milcah and Maachak’s mother, Ms.Lusy Tjew, in Arcadia, California. She’s a very kind and strong woman, in spite of the challenges she’s going through with her illness. She came, with Milcah and her husband, and spent some time with us in Palm Springs, a few years ago, at my sister, Vivian’s Time Share. We had a great and fun time together… then say our goodbyes. 
With a heavy heart, we say our last goodbyes to a beautiful and faithful woman, who cares for her family so deeply and who inspired us to stay faithful to the end. It will not be very long before we meet Ms.Lusy Tjew when our Jesus Christ comes back and picks us all up to heaven, where there’ll be no more sickness, no more deaths, and no more goodbyes.

I have known Ie Ma my whole life. She is the oldest and closest sister of my Mom. At some point of my childhood we even lived very close. The backyard of our houses were connected. I remember from my childhood, Ie Ma always made very good food. Past forward several decades, I have the opportunities to live with her for several months the first year I came to the States. She was the strongest independent woman I knew. She was also very faithful and religious. Every night before she went fo bed she always prayed faithfully for every member of the family one by one. One night I overheard her prayed for me and my future. For that, I’m really gratefull for you my beloved Ie Ma. I will surely miss you Ie Ma, but I’m glad that you are happy with our LORD Jesus Christ in Heaven

I met 阿姨 Lusy in IEC Azusa few years ago without knowing that actually, she knew me long time before that. She was a friend of my grandma and my mom back in Indonesia. They served together in women ministry in GKI Kanaan. 
And she attended my 1 month old celebration at my house in Jakarta. So basically, she knew me my whole life.

She's faithful and her faith legacy now can be seen in her children and grand children. 

阿姨 Lusy have fought a good fight, she finished the race, and she kept her faith. 2 Timothy 4:7


Although I only met sister Lusy a few times through her daughter sister Milcah in the church . She always gave me the impression of content and peace with a smile on her face , in spite of her own illness.

I know Milcah has spent day and night in the hospital to take care of her to bring her back to life , and I admire the effort of Milcah and the deep relationship  and love between mother and daughter .

Although sister Lusy finally went home to be with our Heavenly Father , She has spent her final journey on earth with her beloved daughter and families.  Now she sits beside our Heavenly Father to share the Kingdom of Thousand Years from Glory to Glory !

Hallelujah!   Amen !

When I lived in Medan alongside Auntie Lusy and her two beautiful daughters Malcha and Milcha we used to attend PA martapura church in Medan. Whenever I went to their house Auntie Lusy would always greet me with a soft smile and a caring heart. She was like a second mother to me. 
I remember when I’d spend the night with them. Auntie Lusy would make her special Lapis Ligit with prune fruits in it. It was the most incredibly delicious dessert I’ve ever had. In the mornings she’s make a delicious fried rice. 
I just wish Auntie Lusy could know that I’m so blessed to have known her. I’ll miss her greatly. May she Rest In Peace.

 I thank God for granting me this precious opportunity to get to know you! I adore you with your beautiful heart and spirit praising our Lord even at the moments when you were experiencing several severely dangerous issues... With your concrete faith, you helped strengthen my faith and my will of serving the people God bring unto me. I cherish the memories we shared over the years, especially your encouraging smiles! Congratulations on your great achievements done for God’s Glory, Auntie! You are super!

When I was a kid, we living together for awhile. Sometimes she bring me to the super little traditional store that we call "warung", she always treat me a wafer superman. Whoever we meet at the warung always tought that I'm her daughter, yes we are look alike. That's my best memory with Anui ie when I was a kid.

We meet again when I moved to US, sometimes I sleep over at her place. We always have a good time to chit chat the memories that we have in our family and relatives. Laughing,  eat and watch a Hong Kong drama together eventhough I dont understand and she is my good translater 🤩.

Will miss her so much, our memory still fresh in my mind. Till we meet again Anui ie. Love n miss You here from Jakarta 😘

I was blessed to know Ie - ma Lucy in my life. We didn’t get to spend time a lot together but every time when we met I enjoyed the time together. I thank God that  I had a chance to travel with her when My first time visited Her and I got to know her better. 
She is a beautiful lady in and out. A wife, Mom, Grandma, great Grandma, Aunty , sister and friend that  Love God and God’s  people. 

I love her appearance that’s always neat, pretty and elegant. I love when she prayed and I am grateful that I had a chance to listen to Her prayer  when we visited her in April 2019 and it turn out to be my last chance to pray with her in this world. 

I will miss you Ie-ma , you are in the best place now, and till we meet again in Heaven.  Thank you for showing us how to fought and live for Christ.

Aunt Lusy is my Mom’s eldest sister, and I called her “Ie-Ma”. We were neighbours for many years, until i finished high school. She often dressed smart and looked pretty. That had inspired me to do the same

 I am grateful and proud of Ie-Ma. She was a pious woman, who raised her children by leaning on God and strive steadfastly.

 I had a sweet memory with Ie-Ma when I was around 10 years old. She brought me with her to Parapat (a touristy town in North Sumatra, Indonesia) joined a church program. Because i was the only one invited in this thrip, i became pompous and thought i was her favourite niece ha...ha..ha... Ten years later, we had a chance to recreate the moment in Parapat. Both of us went on a tour to Java and Bali in mid-June 1990. That was an unforgettable memory.  

I am very grateful that my husband and i had the opportunity to see Ie-Ma in December 2016 in LA.  Now Ie-Ma is with our Lord.  

Ie-ma, you are missed and loved.  Till we meet again in heaven.

My mother, Lusy Tjew, she was a remarkable woman, caring, loving mother who had a passion for life. My mother taught me many things as a young kid that I still hold dear to my heart,  good manners, respect and sound moral values. These values have made me who I am and I thank her very much. 

She was a proud woman who believed that there was no obstacle that could not be overcome if she walks with our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be dearly  missed but her memory will live on forever. 

I love you so much mom and will miss you more than words can say. Have peace and rest in our Lord Jesus Christ.

From the first moment I met Aunt Lusy, I knew that I saw a wonderfull strong women. Aunt Lusy has dedicated her life to raise her children in faith. She was a warm and kind person. Everytime we came over to visit, she would always kindly offer us to stay for lunch or dinner. My fondest memory with her was when I stayed over at her home back in 2016. We would talked and talked. She would tell me her life journey. It was a very enriching experience for me.

Rest in Peace Ie Ma. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the Race. Heaven’s gate is opened for you. Love you always Ie Ma.

Dear Oma,

Thank you for everything that you have given and taught me over the years. You were able to exemplify what it means to love others the way Christ loves the church through your generosity, kindness, and humility. You always give above and beyond to me and others even when you don't have much to give. You instilled in me toughness and perseverance in Christ ever since I was young. I am able to be who I am today because of your countless prayers. I will always cherish your legacy by passing on what you have taught me to both of my kids. 

Our life is so short we are here today gone tomorrow. I wish you were here today. I want to introduce you to your new great granddaughter Elyse and for you to continue to play with Adelyn. We praise God for His grace and perfect timing.  We (Cleve, Grace, Adelyn, and Elyse) know that you are back home in a better place with our heavenly father. We will miss you dearly on earth but we know one day we will meet again in our forever home in heaven.

Like my other siblings, we had the privilege to spend most of our childhood with Aunt Lusy because our house was next to hers back in Medan. Our backyard was connected, which practically made my “playground” bigger. 

I thank God for the many opportunities my family and I had with Aunt Lusy. My kids whispered her name in their evening prayers and it was such a memorable time that we all had with Aunt Lusy couple of months ago. 

She left us with many fond memories. There is one particular memory that always bring me joy was related to her love for hymns. She sang hymns in Chinese from the old hymn book. There are hundreds of hymns in that book. When we traveled to San Francisco, I told her the access number of our luggage. She casually nodded her head and that made we worry. So I asked whether she would remember the numbers? With confidence she said, “of course I can remember, it’s the same number with one of my favorite hymns from that hymn book.”

Aunt Lusy loves God. She is now with our Lord in heaven. Thank you Lord for the life of Aunt Lusy that touched and blessed our life in many different ways.

Only a short time ago I saw a picture of aunt Lusy with her family and friend after the Sunday service and mother's day celebration, she had a happy big smile. She had finished the race of faith, faithful to Christ until the end of life.  Now she is with our Lord Jesus Christ.  This separation is only temporary, until we meet again in the kingdom of God. Aunt Lusy was a remarkable woman  - a Godly mother, a loving  grandmother and a great sister in Christ!   Her husband had gone back with the Lord when her two little girls were young and since then she raised her children alone. She believed in putting biblical value early in the kids’ life. As a single parent she was eager to raising her kids well by embracing  strong values and through daily prayers with her children, spending time with them, teaching the importance of integrity , hard work and to be kind to others had made her the proud mother of two great women today!

Aunt Lusy had finished her race well and she is now home with the Lord . Death is not the end for those who believe in Christ and in resurrection . Aunt Lusy had moved from her temporary home on earth to eternal home in heaven and at  our Father’s house there will be no more tears, pain and second death but eternal joy. Kuma is the eldest kuma in our family. I knew her mostly from stories told by my father that she is like a mother to him and a caring sister who looked after my dad when he was young, providing job at the small shop that she run with kuchang. I thank God for the opportunity to visit Kuma back in July 2014. I remembered that she prayed for the blessing of children for me & my husband as well as for our faith to grow stronger in Christ. Thank you being such a godly example to us and caring Kuma. We'll miss you!! Rest in peace until we meet again when Jesus return. 

Auntie Lusy is a great mum.  She always dress  good, complete with all accesories, make up and looks pretty. When I looks her or her picture, it will be reminder me.. you have to dress good like Auntie. 
Auntie also is my mum’s good friend at our home country.  Actually, we want to visit her in december 2019.  But God have His good time for auntie.  Rest in peace and God always be with all of us. 

Aunt Lusy is a true godly woman, her life proved Jesus is a living and loving God. 
I am very grateful to know her and family, it is one of my greatest spiritual gift that God has given to me and my sister. 
I will always remember the way she loves Jesus and will encourage me whenever I needed. 
Aunt Lusy, I just want to say Thank You and Miss You, have peace and rest in our dearest Lord of Jesus Christ!
