Marilyn Mae Colombo, 89, entered eternity on October 14, 2018, in Edmonds, WA. A long-time resident of Glendora, CA, Marilyn was born and raised in Virginia, MN, where she married her high school sweetheart, John Colombo in 1949. She completed training and worked as an R.N. at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis before beginning their family. In 1960, Marilyn and John moved to their beloved house on Juanita Avenue in Glendora, where she resided for nearly 58 years.
Marilyn was devoted to her Lord, Jesus Christ, and to her family, church and friends. She will be remembered as the kindest of mothers, a cheerful friend, great listener, confidant, servant and wonderful mother-in-law. Always quick to smile, Marilyn was loving, unfailingly kind and generous. She welcomed numerous relatives and friends to stay in the spare room and become part of the family, and everyone who broke bread at their table through the years will cherish memories of long conversations and unconditional acceptance.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Belinda Mattson; her husband of 62 years, John Colombo; and her son, Phillip Colombo. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Dave) Rood, Julie (Bob) Gibson, and Connie Colombo; her daughter-in-law, Peg (Phillip) Colombo; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life was held at Oakdale Memorial Park Sunset Chapel, Glendora, CA, on Monday, November 12, at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions suggested to the Salvation Army.
