Marvin Joseph Kaup, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his residence in Hartselle, Alabama. He was born October 24, 1936, in West Point, Nebraska, to Alphonse and Alma (Meister) Kaup.
He married Patricia (Pat) Ann Thompson on June 2, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska. He started his career working at Union Pacific Railroad and advanced to manager at Goodyear before buying his own gas station in Covina, California and managing many other Texaco stations. Finally, he retired as an insurance agent in 2003.
Marvin truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; driving dune buggies in the desert, water-skiing with family and friends, golfing, playing card games (especially Pegs & Jokers), and reading in his downtime.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; four kids, Darrell, Cheryl, David, and Doug; five sisters, Marilyn, Charlene, Betty, Marjorie, and Connie; two brothers, Ed and Jerry; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Alma; his brother, Jim; his son, Thomas; and a granddaughter, Taylor.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Marvin are invited to a memorial service at St. Louise de Marillac Church in Covina, California on August 24, 2018 at 10am, Graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Glendora at 12pm, followed by a catered meal at the Knights of Columbus Hall to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat..
