Minnie Belle Wilson

Belle Wilson was born on April 8, 1931 in Perkins, Georgia. She peacefully drifted into heaven on May 31, 2012, while at home surrounded by her beloved family.

In her teen years, Belle worked as a cashier in a theater box office, as a server in a bakery/tea shop, and as a secretary in a small office. In the summer of 1951, she married the love of her youth, Jim. They started their family and lived in Savannah, Georgia for 14 years. In 1965 they relocated to La Verne, California to go into business with Jim’s sister, Betty and her husband, Steve.

Belle was a consummate mother and homemaker. She also managed the office for Jim’s business, was an accomplished cake decorator, and dabbled in furniture restoration and various crafts. There was nothing she couldn’t do. She was a self-taught cook and she did it well. Her “Indian Soup” was a family favorite and could get even the pickiest eater to eat their veggies. She had a flair for hospitality. If you came to her house unexpectedly, she would go in the kitchen and come out with refreshments worthy of a planned party. She was the “hostess with the mostest” and the epitome of a true “Southern Belle”. She loved working outside in the yard tending to the flower beds and fruit trees. She loved to read, watch and talk about anything to do with Savannah. She valued her family and friends above all, and was everybody’s Nana. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Belle was welcomed to heaven by her husband, Jim; her granddaughter, Sarah; sister, Lucille; brother, Robert; brother, Rufus; her parents, and countless friends. She leaves to cherish her memory two children and their spouses; daughter, Vater (Steve); son, Mike (Patty); 5 grandchildren, Jim, Holly, Ian, Jason and Gus; 6 great-grandchildren, Seth, Julia, Lucas, Christopher, Emma and Connor; 1 great-great-grandson, James; brother Miller; sister Julia; her sister in spirit, Betty; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving relatives and friends.
