Mirta C. Ortiz was born in the beautiful country of Cuba on Saturday, November 26, 1938 to Enrique and Claudina. On Friday, June 7th, 2019, Mirta passed away peacefully in Arcadia, California at the age of 80 years.

In 1964, Mirta married Lino Alfonso in Cuba. In 1965, they had their first son, Juan Carlos. In 1969, Mirta, Lino and Juan Carlos moved to Miami, Florida to start a new life. Shortly after, they moved to Los Angeles, California where they planted their roots near extended family. In 1973, their second son, William, was born.

Mirta was devoted, caring, compassionate, and had a heart full of love. She made an everlasting impression on the lives she reached as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and nurse. With a heart full of care and compassion, Mirta dedicated her career to caring for others through thirty-five years of nursing. In her early years, Mirta was a Registered Nurse in Havana, Cuba. After settling in California, she became an LVN to continue her passion to share her heart with those around her. Mirta joyously devoted her retired years to spending time with her dearest family and close friends.

Mirta was predeceased by her husband, Lino, of 44 years. Mirta is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons and their spouses—Juan Carlos & Marlene and Willie & Vivian, her beloved five grandchildren—Cedric, Evan, Sophia, Alyssa & Julian, her only living sibling (Enrique), her beloved Goddaughter (Marylin), and her "Hermanas de Corazon"—Fina, Delia y Julia.

Mirta will forever be remembered for the everlasting impression on those she loved and adored.
