Nedra Frances Gilbertson

Nedra Frances Gilbertson, age 85, of Orange, California, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at Western Medical Center after a strong and courageous fight. She had taken a bad fall, and was in the hospital for 5 weeks. The day after Easter, our Lord called her home. He wrapped her in His loving arms and freed her of her earthly body.

Nedra was born in Edgemont, South Dakota on May 31, 1927 to Jim and Grace Hammer. Nedra’s childhood was full of adventure and hard work growing up on a farm with her 7 siblings: Jinny, Mickey, Shirley, Verna, Jimmy, Janie, and Murray.

On April 20, 1946 in the state of Minnesota, Nedra married Grover Gilbertson. They were married for 48 years until Grover passed away in 1994. Nedra was a wonderful mother, who raised her daughters, Helen, Victoria, and Lisa with so much love. Her compassion, devotion, and selflessness were beyond belief.

Nedra adored her grandchildren, Tom, Scott, Justine, Ryan, Jack, Victoria, Cody, and Tyler. She cherished every moment she had with them.

Nedra had 7 great-grandchildren who were very special to her: Gavin, Ellie, Grace, Ryan, Hope, Winn and Ryder. She may not have had the opportunity to spend the time with each one of them that she would have liked to. However, photos and stories of their adventures warmed her heart.

Services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, CA.
