Philip J. Romero of Claremont, CA passed away on August 21, 2010.
He was born February 5, 1951 in Torreon, Mexico. His family moved to California in 1953. Phil became a naturalized citizen in 1972. He was proud to serve his country as an active member of the U. S. Army, obtaining the rank of Specialist Four, receiving his honorable discharge in 1977.
Phil went to work for AT&T in 1974 and was employed there for 34 years, retiring in 2008.
His mother, Maria T. Romero and father, Alberto M. Romero, precede him in death.
He is survived by his spouse and life partner, William L. Wine; sisters, Margerita Neilson, Cecelia Baez, Theresa Muniz, Esther Navarrete and sister-in-law, Leah Frymire and brothers, Rodrigo Romero, Jose Jesus Romero and Francisco Romero. 32 nieces and nephews and 38 great nieces and great nephews also survive him. Phil also had many extended family members and close friends. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss him.
Phil's passions were being with friends, gardening and traveling, especially with his partner to their beloved island, Kauai, Hawaii.
Viewing, wake will be held Monday, August 30th from 5:00 to 7:45 P.M. with a rosary be offered at 7:00 P.M. at Oakdale Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1401 S. Grand Avenue, Glendora, CA.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 31st at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 724 E. Bonita Avenue, San Dimas, CA. Final interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery followed by a reception at Phil and Bill's home. Directions will be provided.
