Mr. Ralph Leroy King, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, while briefly receiving hospice care in San Dimas, California. He was a resident of the San Gabriel Valley for more than 60 years.
Born on October 13, 1942, in Marion, Indiana, Ralph was the eldest son of the late Ralph Leroy King, Sr. and Emma Lee Craven Kepler. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, unwavering faith, and extraordinary generosity.
After high school, Ralph relocated to California and began a lifelong career with Eurton Electric Company in Whittier in 1963. A highly skilled coil winder specializing in armatures, he took great pride in his craft and remained employed there for more than six decades. Demonstrating an exceptional work ethic, Ralph also worked simultaneously for many years as a forklift operator at Container Corporation of America in Santa Fe Springs.
Although he eventually retired from his second job, his dedication to Eurton Electric never wavered. Even at 83 years old, Ralph continued working full-time, finding purpose, fulfillment, and camaraderie among the coworkers he considered family.
While Ralph enjoyed following politics and current events, his greatest passion was his faith in Jesus Christ. Carrying a small Bible in his shirt pocket was as routine as carrying his billfold. He read scripture daily, shared his faith openly, and remained steadfast in his beliefs throughout his life.
Though a man of modest means, Ralph faithfully supported numerous charitable organizations and causes. His generosity, compassion, and willingness to help others touched countless lives. He also had a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, finding beauty and wonder in all of God's creatures.
In his younger years, he enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, attending Elvis Presley concerts, traveling throughout the Midwest with his sister Alice to visit family and exploring the desert. He was an avid collector, collecting stamps, coins, books, and many other treasures.
He was a constant presence and supportive influence throughout the childhood of his late sister Katherine's three children—Raymond, Howard, and Alice Marie. He shared with them his love of roller coaster rides at amusement parks and attending Christmas services at Melodyland Church in Anaheim, CA.
He maintained an especially close bond with Alice Marie throughout her life, creating cherished memories and remaining a beloved and trusted presence. Ralph is survived by his brother, Dwayne (Harriett) King of South Bend, Indiana; his sister, Alice Adams of El Lago, Texas; and his brother, Howard "Bud" (Jan) Kepler of Beavercreek,Ohio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and coworkers. Although separated for many years, he will also be missed by wife, Charlene King, and stepsons David Dominguez and Gerald "Jerry" Dominguez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Katherine King Stigner and Nancy "Susie" Kepler Haslam; brothers-in-law Gene Stigner, Sr. and Ronald Haslam; nephew Gene "Raymond" Stigner, Jr. and stepsons Benny Dominguez and Frankie Dominguez.
Though Ralph will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His legacy of faith, generosity, hard work, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
