Where to begin? You took me in at a time when most chose to judge a book by it's cover. But not you, you did not care. If a person had an ounce of integrity you always saw the good in a person. Hanging out with you as a teenager, working on cars while listening to Ramon Ayala & Los Cadetes de Linares you taught me so much about life. You taught me principles that to this day I still live by. Apart from my grandmother, you have been the most influential person in my life. You were always quick to get angry over the smallest things which is why I called you "Grumpy" from Snow White but when it came to the things that actually mattered you would just laugh and shrug it off.  I crashed two of your cars in just one week and left you using a bicycle to get to work. I remember the fear I felt to bring the second car to you and I even brought my friend with me so that you would take it easy on me. To my surprise you just looked at me and said, "what the @#%@ dude?" with a smile. When I left with my friend he asked why you weren't even mad and I said," because he is the best brother a person could have." I loved talking to you about meaningless things and you were always so genuinely interested in what I had to say. Looking back, I was like a little boy excited to tell his dad about all the experiences of life. Thank you for being there for me, for being a father figure to me during my most vulnerable and influential years, for listening to my thoughts, politics, views, everything, most of all for being my brother. I will forever remember you and you will always be in my heart and until the day that I die you will be among the most special people who ever touched my life. I take great pleasure knowing that you believed in the prince of life, Jesus Christ and for that reason you are guaranteed a place in heaven. I know without a doubt that I will see you in heaven.

I remember our last conversation as if it was yesterday.  It was good and as always so so funny.

You would say "Ahhh my favorite niece", hug me tight and plant a kiss on my head...I've missed that for almost 5 years. I stopped questioning why all this happened to you Tio. I can't continue to question Diosito's plan he had for you. All I have left now is peace of mind knowing you are no longer suffering, and that you are in a much better place now, watching over all of us. My heart will heal but that void will always be there. Having someone special as yourself gone, and not being able to enjoy your company, your presence will forever remain with us. It's very painful but we're a strong family and this too we will overcome. I will forever treasure all my memories of you, all the pictures that tell the stories. Memories of you doing mechanica on the cars, frightening & pooling pranks on us with your viejito mask during Halloween, your dance moves, classic rock songs, your Steven Segal ponytail, you calling my tia "Thriller", the good times we had at my birthday party, Thanksgiving & Christmas, Brenda's 15th birthday, your leather jacket, all those family movie nights, your white Levi's…the list goes on and on. Most of all, the loving memory of a family man. I'll always remember your funny witty ways, how protective you were and all the love you gave in your own unique special way. Tio Ramon, I will miss you immensely. You will always be one of the great men in my life and I am proud to have had an uncle like you.

Sometimes I wonder how a person such as myself has been granted such a bountiful gift. The gift has no monetary value; however, it is priceless. It is not an object, but a very real person. This gift is my father.He's touched many lives through the years and upon meeting each new acquaintance, he has sought out a kind word to say to the individual. 
With great dignity, he philosophizes to people who are fortunate enough to cross his path in such an intelligent manner that they learn possibly the most important lesson in their lives.To his children, he speaks of morals and happiness, stressing the importance of the two going hand-in-hand. To his grandchildren, he speaks of respect, for without respect, one has no model for development. To his wife, he speaks of love and the importance of that love; the road ahead and the memories behind.His acquaintances he humors, so they too are graced with a kind word. And to the world, he prays to God that they can find peace, because life is too short for confrontation.I put my father on a pedestal built out of love, courage, trust and security. 
When I watch the eyes fill with love at the utterance of his name, the proudest moment in my life is when I can say, "That's my dad."
