Raymond Heriberto Rosario August 31, 1931 – June 9, 2018

Raymond Heriberto Rosario, 86, of San Dimas, CA passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, Raymond moved to New York City at nine months old where, in his youth, he worked as a shoe shiner, dishwasher, and grocery deliverer before graduating high school in the Bronx.

A veteran of the Korean War, Raymond served in the Army from 1951-53 as a mechanical electrician. In 1953 he met the love of his life, Aida Baez, whom he married in 1955. They had two children: Raymond, born in 1956 and Gigi, born in 1958. Raymond completed his associate degree in applied science at New York City Community College in 1960 and began his career with the Edison company in New York. In 1965, he moved his family to California, where he worked for Southern California Edison as a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 1990.

Raymond enjoyed playing dominoes and poker, attending concerts, camping, and his wife’s Puerto Rican food. He also loved music, particularly Johnny Mathis, Puerto Rican music, classical, and hits from the 1950s-60s. He took pride in serving in honor guard as sergeant-of-arms for the American Legion Borinquen Post 508, representing the military at veterans’ funerals. Perhaps his greatest enjoyment though was entertaining visitors to his home and socializing with friends and family – whom he loved to make laugh.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aida; son, Raymond (Liz) of Prescott, AZ; daughter, Gigi (Tony) Espinosa of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; grandchildren Brad (Leah) Rosario of Menifee, CA, Antoinette (Jason) Borja of San Diego, CA, Adrianne (Derek) Ketelsen of JB Andrews, MD, Amber (Chris) Linde of Upland, CA, Amanda Espinosa of San Dimas, CA, and Anita Rosario of Prescott, AZ; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Emily Rosario (Brad and Leah) of Menifee, CA, Theodora and Titus Borja (Antoinette and Jason) of San Diego, CA, Jackson and Ava Ketelsen (Adrianne and Derek) of JB Andrews, MD, and Tanner and Tatum Linde (Amber and Chris) of Upland, CA.
