

Wendell Leon Nichols was born July 20, 1931 in Ozark, Arkansas and passed February 2, 2025 in La Verne, California. Wendell was the youngest of 4 sons born to Hugh and Quita Nichols. Wendell was the last surviving son as brothers Paul, Robert, and Henry are already awaiting in the afterlife.
Wendell is survived by his wife Jacquelyn, married for 67 years and their 2 sons Jeffrey and Robert. Grandchildren Ryan, Justin, Andrew, Aimee, and Alicia, and great-grandchildren Penny, Zac, Scarlett, Ella, and Abigail.
In addition, Wendell is survived by his brother-in-law Bill, his wife Jennifer, daughter-in-law Sarah, Jeff’s wife of 46 years, and granddaughter-in-law Juliette, and grandson-in-law Stephen and niece Jan nephews Tom and Bill and their families. Wendell was a tremendous athlete in Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Track and Field and was named Pasadena Star-News Athlete of the Year of 1949. He was a Citrus, and Cal State Los Angeles alumni. When serving in the Air Force was a member of the Armed Forces World Softball Champion Team. Wendell earned many letters, medals, and trophies in sports.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Air Force veteran and over 30 years of civil service to the City of Los Angeles.
