Laurie Marie “Quinhopetsa” Saulque (47) Left us much too soon Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019 from Nespelem, Washington. Born Thursday, May 20, 1971 to Vernon Mason & Juliann Jack-Saulque in Grand Coulee, Washington, Laurie was a proud member of the Colville Confederated Tribes and belonged to the Sacred Heart Mission in Nespelem, Washington. A caregiver with DSHS, Laurie was always active - playing with the “Black Cat” basketball team, helping with Wild Horse Race Teams, Rodeo Teams, High School Track and Football, but her great joy was working with & coaching wrestling from the little guys all the way through high school. An accomplished beader and wonderful cook – known for her “rez dogs”, Laurie enjoyed spending time in the woods going for drives and cutting firewood.
Predeceased by her “Baby Girl Vargas: and brother: Lindsey Orrin Saulque; Laurie’s legacy lives on through her parents: Vernon Mason Saulque Sr. and Juliann Jack-Saulque; soulmate: Marc Vargas; children: Garrett Lee Vargas, Natasha Joella Vargas, Lindsey Blaine Vargas Sr. (Vanessa), Coraline Marie Vargas and Sherwin Cashe Vargas; grandchildren: Xena Rose Vargas, Lindsey “Rider” Vargas Jr., Elizabeth Michelle “Beth” Vargas and Skylar Sierra Vargas; siblings: Verna Saulque (Arnold), Jennie Saulque, Nadine Saulque and Vernon Mason Saulque Jr. and numerous nephews and nieces.
Laurie’s dressing was held at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee, Washington at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Services held at the Nespelem Community Center included: 7:00pm Family Rosary: Saturday, January 19, 2019; 7:00pm Community Rosary: Sunday, January 20, 2019; 10:00am Funeral Mass: Monday, January 21, 2019.
