OBITUARY

Linda K Hogan

September 26, 1948February 13, 2021

Linda K Hogan (72) Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away Saturday morning, February 13, 2021 surrounded by her husband and loving family in her Nespelem, Washington home. Linda was born Sunday, September 26, 1948 to William Wayne & Elsie Leary-Picard in Nespelem, Washington. A member of the Confederated Tribes of The Colville, eldest daughter, Linda left high school during her 11th year to help care for her younger siblings, however in later years Linda did continue her studies and earned her GED. On Saturday, March 19, 2005 Linda married George Hogan at the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Linda enjoyed traveling, especially her family’s annual trips to Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. An avid beader who made many beautiful items for friends and family, Linda also enjoyed watching humming birds drink the sweet nectar from her feeders as well as occasional shopping trips to Walmart. Her greatest joy though was always time spent with her children, particularly when the whole family was gathered together in one place. Her family fondly remembers that during these times; Linda would sometimes doze off in the middle of a sentence with a loved one, nap for 20 minutes or so, only to immediately resume her thought upon awakening…leaving the family member scrambling to remember where they were in the conversation. Preceded in death by both of her parents; Linda’s legacy lives on through her loving husband of sixteen years: George Hogan; children: Vanance Picard (Toni), Donovon Picard, Seneatt Hodge (Terrance Gallaher) and Christian Cook (Jeremy); Eight Grandchildren, Two Great-Grandchildren and siblings: Carla Gunter (Gale) and Andre’ Picard. Linda’s family will hold a private celebration of her life at a future date. Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, Washington is assisting her family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at http://www.stratefuneral.com for Linda’s family.

Linda is my cousin and I can't remember a time that she wasn't in my life in some way. Growing up on our Grandparents ranch, she spent her winters with her parents on the coast but her summers were with us. Seven of them ( kids) and five of us( kids), a FULL house for sure. We did everything. Learned to sew, cook, take care of the animals, wash clothes in a wringer washer, hung on a clothes line. Canned fruit with our moms and grandma. And in our spare time, we played. Linda was older, but she didn't treat us like we were to little. She was like " A mama". She was a friend as well as family. I could go on and on but......... She will be missed. 💔

Aunty Linda was a great Lady she always made me feel loved. i remember growing up she always made me feel special when we sat at the kitchen table and talked and she shared a Pepsi with me. i still think of her every time i drink one when the bubbles hit my nose. I always knew when i would bring someone new up to the rez to meet the family if they met her they would get a sense of my family. all my child hood memories have her in them. thank you aunty Linda for always being you, with your beautiful heart and soul shinning in your smile. until we meet again a piece of my heart is with you, Love Stonee Picard
