At this point, Sandy began teaching at the Almira school, ultimately finding her niche as the 1st grade teacher. In Nov 1990, she began her continuing education degree, earning a master’s degree along with four other school colleagues and close friends, Connie Behne, Joan Guptill, Joyce Bodeau, and Roxanne Nelson. Sandy was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. In June 2022, Sandy would move into Vista Manor in Wilbur, WA to take care of her dementia with the loving hands of the staff there.
