

Stephen Lawrence Waggoner (73) was born into the Brewster, Washington home of Pete Simeon & Theresa Raymond-Waggoner on October 18, 1942. He died peacefully amidst the beauty of Ferry County Washington’s Frosty Meadows Campground, Saturday morning, June 11, 2016. A member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, Stephen married Elizabeth “Betty” Engelhardt in Chewelah, Washington September 23, 1961 and deciding once was not enough, they remarried Betty September 22, 1990 in Stevens County, Washington. From 1962 to 1965, Stephen proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, with postings stateside in Georgia as well as overseas in Wiesbaden, West Germany. Stephen said “my church is the out-of-doors”, he was a member of American Legion Post #110 and “always a cowboy at heart” Stephen loved participating in team penning and ranch sorting as an active member of Northwest Penners. When not engaged in his first loves riding horses and ranching, Stephen worked as a professional truck driver. He was also a “dangerous” card player – particularly where pinochle was concerned and loved his “Little Smokey Dog.”
Predeceased by both parents and two brothers: Pete and Lester Waggoner; Stephen’s legacy lives on through his wife: Elizabeth “Betty” Waggoner; children: Lynette Whitney (Rick), Carrie Jo Hawkins (Jerry), Janice Carol Andrea (Steve), Debra Ann St. Pierre (John), Tracy Waggoner-Brumley (Michael) and Stephenie Waggoner (Neil Smith); grandchildren: Scott, Jessica, Michael, Rockey, Kara, Caleb, David, Cody, Kaitlin, John Jr., Cheyenne and Jesse; great-grandchildren: Bailey, Dustin, Austin, Broxton, Ellie, Ella, Nora, Devon and Alicia; brother: Willis Waggoner and sisters: Loretta Stanford and Imogene Waggoner.
At Stephen’s request, cremation has taken place. Pastor Ed Dashiell will officiate at a celebration of Stephen’s life to be held at Cedonia Community Church in Cedonia, Washington at 11:00am, Saturday, June 25, 2016.
