OBITUARY

Virginia May Foland

January 9, 1940October 20, 2021

Virginia May Foland (81) passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah, Washington, Wednesday morning October 20, 2021. Virginia was born Tuesday, January 9, 1940 in Yakima, Washington to John and Martha Wharton-Sakeiwiech.

An entrepreneur together with her life’s partner of 53 years, George Chisholm, Virginia owned and operated several businesses including: “Cliff’s Drive’-Inn” in Yakima, Washington, “Silver Beach Resort” on Rimrock Lake in Naches, Washington; “Twin Rivers Café”; “Sportsman’s Café”; “Beachcombers Pool and Spa” in Yakima, Washington and most recently “Country Pool and Spa” also of Yakima, Washington. When not providing wonderful service to customers, Virginia enjoyed being artistic with woodworking, as an active member along with George, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 379 in Yakima, Washington, she crafted eagles for the Post and loved helping build and decorate the VFW float for the annual Veteran’s Day Parade. However, she enjoyed nothing more than wetting a line “Fishing”…for this reason she owned a house in Coulee City, Washington for 15 years, to be close to Banks Lake’s famous crop of “Walleye.”

Predeceased by her parents: John & Martha Wharton and in May of 2020 - her soulmate: George Chisholm; Virginia’s legacy lives on through her children: Jeffrey Anderson (Amber), Shannon Liniger (Ron) and Robert Foland (Patrice); grandchildren: Chad Anderson, Raechel Anderson, Brittanie Anderson and Cassie Foland and Virginia’s brother: Philip Wharton.

Private burial took place at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee, Washington.
