I just received a letter today informing me about the loss of Dr. Rifkin. I was a patient of his for about the last 10 years. I never met or have known a more caring man than Dr. Rifkin. He was more to me than just my Doctor. His advice each month to me has kept me moving forward without a single setback. I knew he was ill but the Dr. would not let you know how serious it was. Besides his medical care for me I will miss him so very much. I will keep him in my prayers and hope he is at rest and peace. What a special person and there will be other Doctors but not one will measure up to the man that has helped me for all these year. You made me a much better person. I will miss your stories! God bless you. Stuart Singer

I was a patient of dr. Rifkin for about 10 years. He helped me when I developed anxiety when my husband got very sick. I had never taken any medications in my life and was very afraid to do so . I saw a few specialists but nobody was able to convince me and have my trust but Dr.Rifkin. He helped me get back to normal. Even though I was well pretty soon I kept seeing dr. Rifkin for many years. I just looked at my appointment card with him for this coming September and cried. ..... I did not realize that dr.Rifkin was such an important part of my life....we talked about life , teenagers, healthcare, different countries and cultures , and he loved the Polish candy I got him very time I went back home ...
The letter about his passing away was extremely shocking and upsetting.... I will miss him a lot.... The medical community lost a great expert and a friend and I can only extend my most sincere condolences to his closest family. I only saw dr.Rifkin twice a year and I am heartbroken so I cannot imagine what his family must be going through. ....
Dr.Rifkin was the most devoted, diligent, helpful, selfless, caring physician I have ever met , who devoted himself to help the ones that needed him the most. He was there to help not to become rich. When my co -payment went significantly up he did not forget to tell me if if I ever have a problem with it not to hesitate to tell him....
I will miss you a lot dr.Rifkin......

I had the pleasure of working with Arthur for several years at ZHH and spoke to him regularly after he transitioned to more teaching and private practice. His expertise in psychiatry, particularly for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities was an incredible gift. He open mind and ability to research atypical treatments for this unique population was astounding. He could recall research by name in an instant and was a walking medical journal. I had the pleasure of bearing witness to how he literally changed the lives of several young adults with autism and gave them something they hadn’t had in years which was quality of life. He had a wry sense of humor which not everyone understood but if you spent any time with him, you know all about his wife, who he always said was the love of his life and his daughters. He played several instruments and I enjoyed attending one of his concerts with my ZHH colleagues. The medical community needs more physicians who share in Arthur’s commitment to medical excellence. May he be remembered for his numerous contributions to modern medicine.

My condolences go out to the family of Dr. Arthur Rifkin. I had the privilege to work with Dr. Rifkin as a colleague. Dr. Rifkin has bettered the lives of so many people with Intellectual Disabilities/ Psychiatric Diagnosis. Usually we would bring the most difficult cases to Dr. Rifkin and he would stabilize them, thus bettering their lives. He will be missed but his contribution to the field will live past him. May he rest in peace.

I will also like to say Thank you Dr. Rifkin from the people who cannot say it for themselves.
