

Captain Adam Victor Stafford, 27, of Limestone, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Adam was born July 27, 1998 and was the son of Greg and Lesa Gilbert Stafford and the brother of Abigail Stafford of Limestone.
Adam attended David Crockett High School, was an active member of the NJROTC program for four years and served as Commander of the Drill Team his senior year. In 2016, Adam graduated with honors and a full military scholarship.
Adam loved the outdoors and was a Boy Scout, earning the highest award of Eagle Scout.
In 2020, he graduated through the US Army ROTC program from ETSU with a Bachelor of Science in History, commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Armor branch. During his ROTC training, he served as Battalion S1, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, and was a member for the Pershing Rifle Drill Team. He also became certified as a Project Management Professional through Syracuse University in 2024.
A proud veteran, Adam served from 2020-2024 in the US Army, 3rd Squadron, 61st Calvary Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division, attaining the rank of Captain. As a 2nd Lt, Adam began his service to his country at Fort Benning, GA, where he attended Armor Basic Officer Leader Course and Scout Leader Course. From there, he was stationed at Fort Carson, CO and was also deployed to Korea. As a Cavalry Officer, he served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Company Commander. He obtained the Expert Soldier Badge and achieved multiple other awards and recognitions.
Adam was a member of the Greeneville Church of Christ and was baptized into the Body of Believers at a young age.
He is survived by his father and mother, Greg and Lesa Stafford, his sister, Abigail Stafford and grandmother, Connie Stafford. Also surviving are aunts and uncles Lynda Austin (Ron), Brenda Williams, Bobbie Gilbert (Kaye), Mike Gilbert (Pat), Steve Gilbert (Donna), Johnny Gilbert (Billie), Tony Gilbert (Jill), Vikki Felts (David), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by grandparents: Terry Stafford, Bill and Vica Gilbert, and uncles Billy Gilbert, Terry Gilbert and Gary Williams.
Adam leaves behind dear friends: Alicia Rodriguez, Andrew Painter, Nicholas Wilson and Seamus Hagan and many other deeply cherished friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Greene County Honor Guard and the TN National Honor Guard will conduct a graveside service at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday, October 17, 2025. Michael Gilbert will be presiding.
