Barbara Jean Anderson
September 6, 1947 – February 8, 2013
Barbara Jean Summey Anderson, 65, a loving mother, Grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away February 8, 2013, at her home.
Barbara loved the Lord, her sons, and grandbabies most of all. She was a very supportive mom and Grandma and a very helpful lady with a true heart for service. She always thought of others’ needs and attended to those needs.
Barbara had an adventurous spirit while raising her sons – willing to ride in the mud and snow in the Jeep, and being the loudest/proudest fan at their sporting events and horse shows. Her home was always open to their many friends. Throughout her life, she always found joy in cooking/feeding family and friends. Barbara was a hard worker her entire life and taught her sons the importance of a good work ethic and responsibility. She maintained her home while operating the original Little Orange Market on the Asheville Highway which she and her husband, Jim Anderson, built and operated. In later years, she worked in manufacturing at Doehler Jarvis, Far Industries, MTD, Weavexx, and Huf.
Barbara’s love for fun was known by her enjoyment of travel, water skiing at the lake, music, dance, spending time with family, and in her later years, playing with her five grandbabies. Her love for her family was evident to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jim Anderson; mom, Madeline Cobble Miller; dad, Winston “Red” Summey; and step-dad, James Miller.
Survivors include her sons: Cary (Veronica, Rebeca, & Jordan) and Terry (Cassie, Logan, Braiden, & Garrett); sisters and brothers: Daney Summey (Martha); Larry Summey (Wanda); Tammy Jeffers (Eugene); Chris Summey; Bridgett Summey; Tarron Summey; Lori Summey; Lindsay Summey; step-mom Linda Summey; and very special nephews: Dusty and Derek Jeffers; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Pastor Danny Ellis and Ralph Hinkle officiating.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Her pallbearers will be Daney Summey; Larry Summey; Norman Ricker; Eugene Jeffers; Dusty Jeffers, Derek Jeffers; James Strange; and Ralph Hinkle.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Harrison, Jimmy Presley, and Al Carpenter.

Cary and Terry, I am so sorry you have lost someone so precious to your heart. Your mom and dad were two of the finest people I know. We used to have so much fun together. I do not ever remember your mom when she was not smiling. I remember when both of you were born and how proud they were of you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Rebecca Jones (Nicole Jones mother)

My sincere apologies to the family of my dear friend Barbara Anderson. Yesterday the 15th I sent you my sympathies and at the end I wanted to say Barbara is NOW at peace and unfortunately I either did not proof read my message or it was a misprint. I am so terribly, terribly sorry for the error and please know my prayers are with all of you.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Barbara Anderson. She and I were very close friends as we lived next door to one another on Viking Place. Barb had a heart of gold and was loved by many. I will never forget all the help she was to me when my husband Frank was dying. She still remains one of the best friends I have ever had. Please know my prayers are with each and every one of you.Barbara is not at peace.

So sorry about your mother. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. I enjoyed her friendship for so many years, but especially during the last several years that I lived just down the street from her. We will miss her at Viking View. With sympathy, Shelby "Chip" Miller
