Berta W Lyon

Born and raised in Bristol, Tennessee, to her beloved parents, the late Charles and Leona Mae Walsh, Berta carried the rich heritage and friendly charm of the East Tennessee hills throughout her life. Though her roots began in Bristol, it was in Greeneville where she built her home alongside her cherished husband, Allen, establishing deep roots and touching the lives of those around her.

Known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to her family, Berta was a cherished presence in her community. She found her greatest joy in raising her children, spoiling her grandchildren, spending quiet moments with loved ones, and appreciating the simple beauty of life in the Appalachian foothills. Her welcoming smile and compassionate nature made everyone who entered her home feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen A. Lyon; her parents, Charles and Leona Mae Walsh; and other dear family members who went before her.

Berta’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving children: her daughter, Rebecca Lyon Leifert of Greeneville, TN, and her son, Bradley Allen Lyon and wife, Debra, of Simpsonville, SC. She also leaves behind her four treasured grandchildren: Courtney Leifert of Greeneville, Stephen Leifert of Mt. Carmel, TN; TN; Ashley Lyon Register and husband, Heath, of Greenville, SC; and Morgan Lyon of Greenville, SC; along with two precious great-grandchildren, Brooks and Leighton, as well as her extended family, dear friends, and neighbors who were blessed to know her. Her life was a testament to grace, resilience, and quiet strength, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

A memorial service will be held at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home at 5pm Sunday, August 30, 2026 in the chapel. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or the Greene County Humane Society in Berta’s honor.
