

Betty Joe Morelock Bailey of Lost Mountain Community, traded her broken body for a Heavenly one Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Greeneville Community Hospital East. She was 82 years young.
She was the daughter of the late James (Jake) and Edith Morelock. She spent most of her life in the Pine Grove and Lost Mountain Communities. Betty was a member of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church where she attended as long as her health permitted.
Betty Joe worked for many years at Laughlin Hospital and Life Care Center. Most recently she volunteered as a foster grandmother at Baileyton Elementary. This was a position that she truly enjoyed.
Ms. Betty was an avid reader and collector of books. She was the proud owner of more than 7,000 books. Betty was known throughout the community for her quick wit. Her best friend for the past 11 years was her cat “Opie”. He was a constant companion after the loss of Betty’s husband.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Tim and Donna Bailey and Tony and Pam Bailey. Grandchildren: Toby Bailey and fiancé Julie Walker, Tyler Bailey and wife Courtney, Talley Bailey, Turner Bailey, Vanessa and Harry Scott, Michael and Breezy Whipp. Great-grandchildren: Taelynn Rae Bailey, Kyle Scott, Brady Scott, Makayla Mitchell, Daniel Whipp and Isaac Whipp. A sister, Barbara (Cookie) Barkley; special niece, Tammy Littleton; brothers-in-law, Steve Bailey and Ray Barkley; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Bailey, Ina Matthews, Helen Bible, Betty Johnson, Sue Morgan, Faye Hilton and Wanda Bailey; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special friend, Carolyn Hembre.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Bailey; her parents, Jake and Edith Morelock; sisters, Wanda Hughes and Norma (Tincy) Laws and a special niece, Sonya Short.
The family will receive friends 2 – 4 and 5 – 7 Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Thursday, at 1 pm at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Nathan Reynolds officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home at 12 noon to go in procession to the church.
Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Toby Bailey, Tyler Bailey, Turner Bailey, Michael Whipp, Steve Bailey, Todd Bailey, Mitchell Littleton and Zack Littleton.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Crawford, Ray Barkley, Zeke Littleton, Liam Littleton, as well as friends and neighbors.
Friends may gather anytime at the home of Tim and Donna Bailey or Tony and Pam Bailey.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville, Krista Bowman and Greeneville Community Hospital East.
