He was a 1958 graduate of Greeneville High School and a 1961 graduate of Tusculum University. He retired from Eastman Chemical in Kingsport, where he was a Chemist for 45 years. During his retirement years, he and his wife, Peggy, loved growing vegetables. They always put out an acre or more of garden and loved canning and giving vegetables away, especially his different variety of tomatoes to family and friends.
He is survived by and will be truly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Fillers; two sons, Carly and John Fillers; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Fillers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoxie and Golden Fillers; three brothers: Phil, Ronnie, and Jerry Fillers; and sister-in-law, Alice Fillers.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at GreeneLawn Memorial Gardens on the Asheville Hwy. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to meet at 9:00 am at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Caine Ballard, Eddie Eidson, Zachary Fillers, George Anderson, Noah Cutshall, and Chris Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
