

Carrie Kelley, 74, of Kelley Gap Road, Greeneville. passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 surrounded by her family. She slipped into a peaceful sleep and went home to be with the Lord. She was living in Durham Hensley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a homemaker.
Carrie was a loving wife, mother, and especially grandmother; nieces, nephews and neighbors alike looked to her as a second mother. She loved each and every child like her own. Many who passed through her door soon found themselves right at home at Granny’s house, where countless memories were made.
Carrie rededicated her life to the Lord in August of 2007 with her special friend, Rev. Mark Starnes by her side.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years: Walter Kelley; children and spouses: Judy and Danny Garber, Wilma and David Jones, Carolyn Kelley, and Lynn Roberts; grandchildren and spouses: Scott and Shelia Ricker, Jessica Jones and Jeremy Smith, Samantha Jones and Daniel Elliott, Lindsey Jones, Danny Lynn Garber, Trina and Larry Garrett; several step great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Guy and Faye Darnell; sister-in-law: Gerline Darnell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Don and Grace Shipley; many nieces and nephews that were all very special to her; and her special friends: Rev. Hubert and Doris Metcalf, Buddy Buckner, Steve and Karen Ricker.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Stephanie Ricker; parents: David and Clara Wilhoit Darnell; five sisters: Alice Lee Darnell, Sylvia Johnson, Myrtle Shipley, Daisy Parkins, Zuella Kelley; five brothers: Junior Darnell, George Darnell, Vance Darnell, Eugene Darnell, and Pearson Darnell.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home preceding the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Hubert Metcalf and Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.
Interment will follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Prices Cemetery at Whitesands. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the committal service.
Her pallbearers will be Scott Ricker, Hugh Davis, Jerry Darnell, Junior Kelley, Danny Lynn Garber, Brian Darnell, Lynn Roberts, and David Jones.
Dr. John Shaw, Dr. Ken Nichols, the wonderful nurses and staff of Durham Hensley and Amedisys Hospice Group, many clients at Durham Hensley that stopped by to check on her, and the New Jerusalem Church Congregation will serve as honorary pallbearers.
