After serving in his community in a career that spanned decades in electrical, heating and air, and gas installation and maintenance, he retired from Marsh Petroleum and spent his retirement years continuing to help friends, family, and community member in these areas.
He was a devout Christian and, grounded in his faith, he continued to serve others with his time and expertise. He was a loving role model of work ethic and resilience who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Cora Parton and his younger brother, Jimmy Parton.
He is survived by his children: Andy (Pam) Parton of Greeneville, TN and Kim (Tony) McMinn of North Carolina; his grandchildren: Makala Johnson of Greeneville, TN, Sam (Katherine) Hurst of North Carolina, Abigail Louise of South Carolina, and Trenholm McMinn of North Carolina; four great grandchildren: Abel, Sawyer, Tobias and Luka Hurst all of North Carolina; and a sister, Ruby Collins of Greeneville, TN.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm. Rev. Randy Barnwell will officiate.
Interment will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 pm Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joel Barnwell, Bryan Davis, Jack Brewer, Kendall Shipley, Jerry Anderson and Sam Hurst.
