

He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union since 1950.
He was a member of the House of the Lord Church for 43 years and a deacon for most of those years.
He was a MP in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Griffin is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Dorothy and Lynn Mercer of Greeneville; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Ken and Nancy Griffin, Ray and Barbara Griffin, and Johnny Griffin of Knoxville, Tennessee; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends: Sue Debusk and Mary and Richard Britton.
He was the son of the late Jack and Julia Massey Griffin and was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Griffin; a son: Fay Jack Griffin; sister: Viola Branch; and two brothers: Andy Griffin and Carl Griffin.
The family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Ray Shelton and Rev. Warner Metcalf officiating.
Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery.
His pallbearers are Kermit Griffin, Bert Griffin, Allan Griffin, Charles Lindy, Bronson Mercer, and Jackie Griffin.
Kenneth Phillips, Bill Lamons, Danny Ball, and men of the House of the Lord Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
