

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Bethany McPherson of Murfreesboro and Becky Hensley of Memphis as well as two grandchildren – Sarah McPherson and Will McPherson. Siblings include: Dwight Hensley, Marjorie Parman, Joyce Carter and Judy Seaton. Two sisters-in-law, Merle Archer and Beverly Shae Cogdell (Wallace) along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Hazel Payne Hensley, his mother-in-law Ruby Collier, sisters- and brothers-in-law Barbara Johnston (Jimmy), Glenna Waddell (Glenn), Larry Parman, Charles Carter and Charles Seaton along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. And also, by a beloved son-in-law Ryan McPherson.
David and Elizabeth were married at Tusculum Baptist Church on March 16, 1973 where he has also faithfully served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and enjoyed work with the college ministry.
He was a dedicated employee of Ball Metal & Chemical (and it subsequent names) for 46 years.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 13 at Tusculum Baptist Church with visitation from 10-11:00 a.m., with the funeral service following. Dr. David Smith and Reverend Jon Reed will officiate.
Burial to be held at GreeneLawn Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Fox, Jacob Wright, Bart Clendenon, James Edward Payne, Ken Cogdell and Paul Cogdell. Honorary pallbearers include his Sunday School class, retirees breakfast group and Joe Crosswhite.
David will be remembered for his devotion to God, love for his family, dedication to helping others and strong work ethic. Not to mention his barn, sports, tractor, garden, lawn mower and a good laugh.
The family would like to thank the amazing medical team at Jefferson University Hospital in PA and UT Medical Center for their loving and professional care.
