

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was a member of the American Legion, President of the Orchid Society in Fontana, California, and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 of Southern California.
Mr. Trippler joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 16 and served for 8 ½ years. He was engaged in the battles of Saipan, Tianin, and Okinawa. His unit was the first to enter Nagasaki after the atomic bomb destroyed the city. After the war, he remained in the National Guard and re-enlisted when the Korean Conflict began and served as a meat cutter at Fort Irwin in Barstow, California.
He was an operating engineer for Fontana Paving Inc. in Fontana, California.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years: Dorothy Trippler; son and daughter-in-law: Duane and Sandra Trippler; daughter and son-in-law: Diane K. and Daniel Willmarth; grandchildren and spouses: Darin Trippler, Justin and Deanna Trippler, Chad and Devin Willmarth, Jamie Willmarth, Kristi and Dean Borer, Andrea and Chad Smith, and Michaele and Tim Pennell; great grandchildren: Mathew and Desiree Trippler, Justin Michael Trippler, Kenneth Trippler, Brittany Trippler, Hannah Willmarth, Hailey Willmarth, Makenna Borer, Cooper Willmarth, Maci Borer, Maddux Willmarth, and Gavin Strickland; brother and sister-in-law: Dorman and Eleanor Trippler; sister: Dulcie Rolison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Velzora Pogue Trippler; three brothers: Daryle Trippler, Delore Trippler, and Dean Trippler; a sister: Zeldora Bjorklund; and a grandson: Michael Pumpelly.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Tuesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1109 Sun Valley Drive in Greeneville.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at the church with First Counselor David Creech, High Priest Group Leader Jim Kenney, and Chad Willmarth officiating.
Interment will be in Prices Cemetery at Romeo. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
