He was a retired millwright and construction worker. He was also a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam war as well as the Army Reserves.
He is survived by one son: Gregory Smith and several grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, Charles Smith, mother, Ida Olene Bailey and step father, Charlie Bailey; a son: Charles “Bip” Smith and a brother: Steve Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the service following at 7:00 pm. Richard Gosnell will officiate. Greeneville-Greene County Honor Guard will conduct a military graveside service at 11:00 am Wednesday at New Bethel Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
