

Mr. Fillers attended UT, Tri-State College, and Spartan College of Aeronautical Engineering.
He served in the US Air Force participating in WWII in the 15th Air Force as a Top Turret Gunner and retired from Lockheed Aircraft after 30 years as an Aeronautical Engineer and Adviser. He received many commendations from Lockheed, including the Design and Development of the C-130B Hercules.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Richard Aasheim, Dr. A.K. Sen, Dr. Thomas Beckner, and the staffs of Wellington Place and Caris Hospice.
Mr. Fillers was of Methodist faith.
He was a member of the Idaho Military Historical Society, American Rocket Society, and the 456th Bomber Group.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law: Raymond and Nina Fillers of Afton; sister: Betty Beals of Afton; brother-in-law: Edgar Frederick of Baton Rouge, LA; eleven nieces and nephews including: Bryan and Tim Fillers, Eric and Jenny Fillers, Wallace Beals, all of Afton, Jack and Linda Beals, Melanie and Rockey McFall of Chuckey, Denise and Gregg Lady of Kingsport, Tracy and Dale Thorton of Atlanta, GA, Leslie and Aubrey Durr of Baton Rouge, LA, Jerry and Faye Fillers of Knoxville, Rickey and Cathy Fillers of Manassas, VA; many great nephews and great nieces; and special friends and neighbors: Bob and Judy Ammann and Rob and Cathy Lance of Little Switzerland, NC.
He was the son of Ottis and Gladys Seaton Fillers and was preceded in death by his wife: Eileen Sinclair Fillers; two brothers: Dennis and Denver Fillers; and one sister: Mildred Frederick.
The family will receive friends 6-8pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
There will be a graveside service at 2pm Friday, September 6, 2013, at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with the Greene County Honor Guard officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
