Dr. Marlin Mathiesen

He was a physician.

Dr. Mathiesen was a member of Greeneville Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was a Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians and a member of numerous other professional medical organizations.

Survivors include his wife: Kathy Mathiesen; a daughter: Wendy Mathiesen of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Matthew Matthiessen of Mariposa, California and Dr. Patrick and Jenn Matthiessen of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Owen Matthiessen and Lily Matthiessen, both of Oak Ridge; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Karen and Roger Mace of Grottoes, Virginia and Cindy and Haskell Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carolyn and Billy Ray Seaton, Nellie Gunter, Barbara Lilly, Virginia and Jerry Scalf, Donna and Curtis Rasnake, and Larry and Cindy Jennings; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Dr. Kenneth and Lucile Putnan Mathiesen and was preceded in death by his first wife, Amy Mathiesen, and one brother, Stanley Mathiesen.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, December 13, 2013, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Greeneville Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Jeremy Arnall officiating.

Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tom Keller, Ruyoichird Iwasaki, Gary Arnold, Ken Martin, Owen Matthiessen, Ronnie Roberts, David Reynolds, Matthew Matthiessen, and Dr. Patrick Matthiessen.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Greeneville Seventh Day Adventist Church, physicians and staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital and Takoma Regional Hospital, staff of Urgent Care and Occupational Medical, physicians and staff of Greene Valley Developmental Center, Dr. A. K. Sen, Dr. Gordon Marsa, Dr. Ron Turk, Bill and Stephanie Peters, Greeneville Anesthesia Group, Miwako Iwasaki, and Richard O’Ffill.
