

She was a graduate of Greeneville High and attended Greeneville School of Commerce before going to work for the F.B.I. in Washington, DC during World War II, after which she was married to her former husband, CPO Bill Horton, U.S.N. Ret.
Born to this union were three daughters and one son: Cheryl Horton of Rheatown; Carolyn Whitehurst of Knoxville; Rebecca (James R.) Smith of Greeneville and Clifton Reel (Drenda) Horton of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robert E. Dawson IV of Maryville, Tennessee; Eric S. Horton of West Palm Beach, Florida; Clifton Horton of Asheville, North Carolina; Ryan A. Smith of Greeneville; Aaron Horton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jennifer H. Green and Michelle Horton of Orlando, Florida; and ten great grandchildren.
Additional survivors include: three brothers: Ralph Reel of New Market, Harley Reel of Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey, and Dr. Donald Reel of Lexington, Kentucky. She also leaves behind a special friend, Jeanne Williams.
She was the daughter of the late Eugene Rankin and Hattie Hashe Reel of the Kingsport Highway and was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Reel of Morristown, Harry Reel of Madison, Wisconsin, and Fred Reel; of Rogersville.
Mrs. Horton was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church.
For the past 20 years she has made her home in an apartment at Plaza Towers and was active in activities as long as she was able. She was a photographer for three years and a secretary for six years and also was a supportive member of the Sunday School for the Plaza Towers Tenants Association.
There will be a visitation and a Celebration of Life service from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A private committal service will be held at a later date.
