

Elsie and her husband, Jerry, lived in the Houston Valley Community. They enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening, and raising their family. Elsie enjoyed cooking, canning, and preserving fruits and vegetables for her family and was a talented seamstress. Her grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her and their papaw on the farm. She would entertain them with stories of her childhood, make special cakes for the holidays, make toys and quilts, and gave the best back rubs. She also enjoyed family get-togethers with her sisters and brother to sing gospel songs.
She is survived by her daughters: Bureda (George) White, Yvonne (Roy) Sluder; son, Parker (Nanette) Wilds; grandchildren: Emily (Sean) Ellison, Dustin (Letisha) Wilds, John (Leslie) White, Dennis (Sierra) Wilds; great grandchildren: Evan and Emerson Ellison, Elijah, Ethan and Emma Wilds, Justin White, Hayden and Shawna Smith; brother: Billy Long; sisters: Ruby Collier, Maxine Harmon, Carol (Roger) Cutshall; sister-in-law: Phyllis Wilds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years: Jerry L. Wilds; daughters: Winnie and Angela Wilds; parents: Thurman and Maggie Long; sisters: Mary Ellen Hope, Altha, Alice, Betty Wilma; and brother: Manson Long.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel in Greeneville, Tennessee, with Rev. Dustin Wilds and Rev. Roger Cutshall officiating.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John White, Dennis Wilds, Sean Ellison, Ken Cogdell, Eli Cutshall, and David Hensley.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Jefferson County Nursing Home, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and Smoky Mountain Hospice for their excellent care during her illness and passing.
