Mrs. Ragan was the first employee at Greeneville Federal Bank and stayed until her retirement.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and was active as long as her health permitted.
She spent her life helping other people. She loved God, her church and her church family. She had no children of her own but was always helping children any way she could.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law: Frank and Ethel Mitchell; 1 step-son and his wife: Johnny and Jane Hutton; two step-grandsons: Ben Hutton and Tim Hutton; special nephew who was her caregiver: Jerry Mitchell; several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews; one sister-in-law: Dean Mitchell; and a special friend Annie Byrd Cansler.
She was preceded in death by: husbands: Fred Smelcer, Howard “Boots” Hutton, and Paul Ragan; parents: Rome and Glenna Prather Mitchell; three brothers: William Mitchell, Charlie Ray Mitchell, and Mack Mitchell; and a sister-in-law: Edna Ruth Hawk.
Her family will receive friends 1 – 3 pm and 5 – 7 pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with the Rev. John Grimm officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 am Friday in Pine Grove UM Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 am at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
