

Eugene is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Myrl Morelock of Greeneville, Anita and Buddy Austin of Florida, and Pebbles “Eugenia” and Dan Young of Indiana; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Dean Swatzell of Russelville, Zemery and Manilla Swatzell of Tusculum, and Marybelle Smelcer of Greeneville; grandchildren, Dave and Debbie Moody, Scott Moody, Andy Moody, and Zackery Pickett; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Drew, Hayden, Jordin, Gabe, and Oliver; and several nieces nephews. Eugene is also survived by a special niece, Melissa Bowin, her husband, Chris, and her son, Samuel, who was like his grandson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, in 2019; his parents, Robert “Bob” and Edna Swatzell; his sisters and brothers, Annis Casteel Jones, Lucy Kate Smelcer, Edith Latheim, Voretta Skeen, Gladys Idell, and Carl Genay Swatzell; and brother-in-law, Gene “Jimmy” Smelcer.
The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Interment will be at 11am Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at New Bethel Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10am to go in procession to the cemetery
